HISTORY
THOMPSON & SMITH was formed in October 1998, the result of the merger of The Thompson Group and Jackson Risk Services, dba Associated Insurance Services.
Jim Thompson, a native of Trenton, TN, began his insurance career in 1980 by founding Trenton Insurance Center in Trenton, TN. By 1994, he had grown a customer base that included a considerable number of Jackson accounts, so he opened an office in Jackson and changed the name to The Thompson Group. Jim serves as the Chief Manager and Administrative Officer of the company and is a P&C and bond producer concentrated in the area of construction.
Roger Smith, a native of Jackson, TN, worked in a family funeral and cemetery operation, George A. Smith and Sons. He served as COO and managed the insurance department. In 1996, he had the opportunity to enter the property and casualty insurance business by joining Associated Insurance Services, Inc., a Jackson agency with predecessor agencies dating back to 1927. In 1997, he formed Jackson Risk Services, LLC for the purpose of buying the assets of Associated Insurance Services, Inc. Roger serves as the Sales and Marketing Officer of the company and is a producer with generalist orientation.
Chuck Thompson, a native of Trenton, TN, joined the agency in 1994 and began learning the business under the direction of his father, Jim Thompson. Chuck serves as the Agency Manager of the company and is a producer concentrated in the area of construction. Chuck became a partner in the company in 2008.

Chuck Thompson, the son of Jim Thompson, is the Agency Manager and licensed P&C / L&H producer concentrated in the area of construction.
Mike Winslow joined the agency in 2001 and is a licensed P&C producer with generalist orientation. Mike has been very successful in growing a substantial book of motel business.
Trey Brown began his insurance career in 2001 with Federated Insurance Company. Trey joined the agency in 2007 and is a licensed P&C producer with generalist orientation.
